Solid Cybershot is a solid little camera. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles some cameras do now, but if you are just looking for a solid camera to catch memories with friends and family at a great price this might be the camera for you.
Love it! I did a lot of research before choosing my camera because I wanted to be sure I got something great and easy to use. I am so glad that I spent the time doing that because this is an AWESOME camera. It has a big screen so that you can actually see what you are taking a picture of. It has so many features that are very cool and may I just add that it takes awesome pictures. I am not a very photogenic person and let me tell you I am even happy with the way the pictures come out. So if you are thinking of this camera let me tell you that you won't be dissapointed!
Great Camera! The camera is fantastic. Camera fits in my purse, great pixel ratio, great zoom. You couldn't ask for anything more for the price... well except ask for more color options. I generally use a SLR Nikon. This is the perfect option for downsizing when the SLR is just too large to take along.

Great point-and-shoot digital camera I got this as a gift, and absolutely love its functionality. So far it's proven easy to use and good quality. The screen is large and vivid. The five-point auto focus works well, and gives you great clarity in your pictures. The flash is a bit slow, but otherwise it's a fast shot. The only downside is that you have to use the sony memory card and adapter in order to get pics onto your computer or printed at the store. Otherwise, it's a great buy! I'd recommend it for someone looking for a compact, easy-to-use digital camera.
Great camera!!!! This camera takes great pictures and does not require a lot of technical knowledge. Our 3 year old will not sit still for pictures and this camera is so fast, we actually get several great shots! Also, I notice a difference with the 8.1 MP in the clarity of many of our photos. I love all the options available and that it's a camera that a technical idiot like myself can use.
nice cam! This works pretty well. It does have great features which I believe every 8.1MP camera have. Got this as this was a Sony and the combo deal with the SD card and the care. Picture quality is superb and sharp.

Small, light & easy-to-use camera that takes great photos! I received this camera for my birthday since my other Sony lost it's flash. I was hesitant about another Sony but am really happy with the camera. I am by no means a professional, but I do take about 50 photos a month for fun. This camera is very light weight, very small and has a very short first shot delay, which is so nice! The flash is good and the rechargeable battery is nice, esp if you have ever used one that takes AA batteries. Battery is easy to charge and does so fast. It takes about 5 min to figure out how to take your first shot, then it's fun & easy to learn the other details! I love the timer, the movie function and the large screen display. Overall, a great little camera with all the functionality you would need if you are not a professional.

Excellent buy! I purchased this camera after researching different digital cameras with the capability of taking hi-def video's. I am very pleased with the images and video that this camera produces. The Camera itself: This camera has a small thin and sleek body that is comfortable and easy to use. The body is very light-weight and made of durable metal, with a magnetic slider lens cover. The touchscreen is very easy to use and comes with a stylus in the event that you prefer to use that. (not necessary) I absolutely enjoy the 4GB of internal memory, this provides plenty of storage to take rather long video's in high-def, and hold thousands of pictures in multiple resolutions. The cameral has a lot of customizable feature but my favorite is the password protection that can be turned on or off. The password is necessary to access the stored images on the camera. There are many other features on this camera so I recommend going to the local electronics store and playing with it to see for yourself how easy it is to use. Picture quality: Excellent picture quality during many different lighting conditions due to the different iso settings that are automatically selected. Low-light conditions like all cameras can be a little tricky to get a good quality picture but it has a setting to automatically take a second picture in those conditions improving the chance of producing a good picture. Overall I am very happy with the quality of the pictures it produces and use it every day. It produces very sharp pictures that look wonderful on HD TVs. There are several settings for quality and aspect ratios. I prefer the widescreen ratios for display on HD TVs. These can be changed for preferance. This camera has a wonderful focusing feature for taking pictures of very small objects such as...ants or anything else you may want to take a super close up picture of. Video quality: Very sharp 30fps Hi-def video with stereo sound is wonderful. This camera has an amazing microphone built in. I just used it at a club where the music was so loud I couldnt hear what my friends were saying next to me. But when I played the video on my computer I could clearly hear exactly what they were saying, the music in the background was still audible but didn't overpower their conversation. Overall I would definitely recommend this camera to any ameture that want's a great quality camera that is capable of takeing good quality pictures.
Attractive but not effective This is a peice of slim wonderful but have some issues like image view. On a indoor light red takes precendence. And the shot button is so small to use it timely. And pictures can't be copied directly it needs sony proprietary software so it is not handy to download it anywhere. Ofcourse, this is known to everyone about the sony.

Great for on the go picture taking and especially HD aspect ratio shooting The picture quality is probably as good as it gets with a slim camera. I'm going to review this based on the following: 1. Size - The camera is about the size of an iPhone, but maybe around 3/4 of inch shorter. It's very small and very thin, but because the framing is mostly metal, it a little heavier than you would expect. However, having said that, it's very sturdy. 2. Convenience - So this is a mixed bag of good and bad...The camera is small and strudy, but it is a touchscreen so I would recommend a plastic sticker or film to lace over that part. IN addition, the touchscreen is not electro-capacitive (I'm not sure if that's the right term) so you have to "tap" and you will not be able to "touch" the screen for a response. This is not too much of a problem because the included lanyard has a stylus sttachment. I find it far more convenient to just use my fingers, but depending on how you handle the camera, it may not be in issue. 3. Quality - I'm no expert, but I think most pictures can be blown up to at least 5x7 without much of a problem. One of the big perks that I love about this camera is that it has an HD Aspect Ratio that allows pictures you take to fit newer monitors without stretching/tiling the pic. I find that I don't see that many red eye pics and oddly enough, the smiling recognition does a decent job. 4. Storage - MS Pro Duo, either love it or hate it...but with this model you have the option to use the internal 4gigs inside..unfortunately there is no cohesive way for the camera to deal with both the internal and any external pro duo cards you use. Without going into the manual much, basically it's one or the other. Overall, I really like this camera and it is simple enough that you almost don't mind the limitations of the touchscreen. One of these days, I hope they build touchscreens on cameras with as much care as an iPhone..that would be a killer sale...convenience and size...

Terrible image quality - shame on you Sony I was a big Sony fan until I got this camera. I returned it and got a Canon. The touchscreen and the features are really cool, but the image quality was terrible. I could not believe Sony marketed this camera. I even went to a store to try another one, thinking it was just a defective item, but it wasn't. You can tell from the LCD screen that the image quality is bad. Please try it and compare with other brands or the Sony DSC-W150 before buying. On auto mode, it is quite inconsistent, sometimes shooting with 800 ISO and ruining the picture. On manual/program it is more consistent, of course, but the pictures are grainy and reddish. It's a waste of megapixels. I compared this camera with an old 3MP Cyber-shoot I had, both indoors and outdoors with a tripod and the same settings. The old 3MP camera beat this camera, hands down. I cannot believe the positive reviews either. Maybe CNET gives a hint: "DSC-T700 will satisfy those who like showing off their pictures as much as they like taking them." I would add: "and those who never look at the pictures they are taking."
Great compact point and shoot I purchased this camera in a pinch back in November 2008. I was heading to the SEMA show in Vegas, and my ancient Sony P-10 was starting to show its age. I didn't want to lug my Canon DSLR around, so I went shopping for a nice and compact P&S. The size of the camera is similar to a cell phone. I use my T-Mobile G1's soft case for the Camera instead of the phone. The picture quality is superb (as expected from upper tier cybershot cameras) in most situations. Like usual, shooting in dim light and in the dark don't work out for Sony Cameras... it's definitely leaps and bound better than the previous ones I've owned though (this is Cybershot number 5 in my household). The on-board 4gb of storage is great. It's meant to serve as a photo album. A memory stick duo should be used for normal shoots, while the on-board storage should be used for small resolution photo galleries. 4gb of duo in addition to 4gb of on-board memory should be enough for most. The touch-screen interface is decent. The only gripe I have is that is smudges quite easily. Aside from that, it functions well. Overall, it's a great ultra compact P&S model. It gets the job done for general use and has a very nice form and feel. The metallic casing shows its position in the cybershot line. Definitely recommended, especially at the current Amazon price ($270) at the time of this review. I purchased it for $385. and would do the same again if needbe.

Pleased-very nice camera I did a lot of research and settled on the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W170 based on its very positive 4-1/2 star reviews and the fact that it has a Zeiss lens. The lens was an important issue for me. My prime DSLR is a Pentax K-10D but I wanted a reasonably priced carry-every-day pocket camera. So far, this has exceeded my expectations. The controls almost go to infinity and yet you can choose EASY shooting mode for the quick photos. The LCD screen is clear and easily viewed. This is a very solid, well designed and easy to manipulate camera with exceptional fit and finish. You will need to purchase a Memory Stick Duo Adaptor for the Sony 170 but everything else is included. Even though this is a first blush review everything works perfect, pictures are very crisp and sharp. Time will tell as is true in anything but I would not hesitate to recommend this camera to a friend.
Sony Cybershot 170 camera I had a older model of this camera and was very happy with it. I wanted to update and I got this one again and I am very happy with how it works. Very easy to learn.

Great for on the go picture taking and especially HD aspect ratio shooting The picture quality is probably as good as it gets with a slim camera. I'm going to review this based on the following: 1. Size - The camera is about the size of an iPhone, but maybe around 3/4 of inch shorter. It's very small and very thin, but because the framing is mostly metal, it a little heavier than you would expect. However, having said that, it's very sturdy. 2. Convenience - So this is a mixed bag of good and bad...The camera is small and strudy, but it is a touchscreen so I would recommend a plastic sticker or film to lace over that part. IN addition, the touchscreen is not electro-capacitive (I'm not sure if that's the right term) so you have to "tap" and you will not be able to "touch" the screen for a response. This is not too much of a problem because the included lanyard has a stylus sttachment. I find it far more convenient to just use my fingers, but depending on how you handle the camera, it may not be in issue. 3. Quality - I'm no expert, but I think most pictures can be blown up to at least 5x7 without much of a problem. One of the big perks that I love about this camera is that it has an HD Aspect Ratio that allows pictures you take to fit newer monitors without stretching/tiling the pic. I find that I don't see that many red eye pics and oddly enough, the smiling recognition does a decent job. 4. Storage - MS Pro Duo, either love it or hate it...but with this model you have the option to use the internal 4gigs inside..unfortunately there is no cohesive way for the camera to deal with both the internal and any external pro duo cards you use. Without going into the manual much, basically it's one or the other. Overall, I really like this camera and it is simple enough that you almost don't mind the limitations of the touchscreen. One of these days, I hope they build touchscreens on cameras with as much care as an iPhone..that would be a killer sale...convenience and size...

Terrible image quality - shame on you Sony I was a big Sony fan until I got this camera. I returned it and got a Canon. The touchscreen and the features are really cool, but the image quality was terrible. I could not believe Sony marketed this camera. I even went to a store to try another one, thinking it was just a defective item, but it wasn't. You can tell from the LCD screen that the image quality is bad. Please try it and compare with other brands or the Sony DSC-W150 before buying. On auto mode, it is quite inconsistent, sometimes shooting with 800 ISO and ruining the picture. On manual/program it is more consistent, of course, but the pictures are grainy and reddish. It's a waste of megapixels. I compared this camera with an old 3MP Cyber-shoot I had, both indoors and outdoors with a tripod and the same settings. The old 3MP camera beat this camera, hands down. I cannot believe the positive reviews either. Maybe CNET gives a hint: "DSC-T700 will satisfy those who like showing off their pictures as much as they like taking them." I would add: "and those who never look at the pictures they are taking."
Great compact point and shoot I purchased this camera in a pinch back in November 2008. I was heading to the SEMA show in Vegas, and my ancient Sony P-10 was starting to show its age. I didn't want to lug my Canon DSLR around, so I went shopping for a nice and compact P&S. The size of the camera is similar to a cell phone. I use my T-Mobile G1's soft case for the Camera instead of the phone. The picture quality is superb (as expected from upper tier cybershot cameras) in most situations. Like usual, shooting in dim light and in the dark don't work out for Sony Cameras... it's definitely leaps and bound better than the previous ones I've owned though (this is Cybershot number 5 in my household). The on-board 4gb of storage is great. It's meant to serve as a photo album. A memory stick duo should be used for normal shoots, while the on-board storage should be used for small resolution photo galleries. 4gb of duo in addition to 4gb of on-board memory should be enough for most. The touch-screen interface is decent. The only gripe I have is that is smudges quite easily. Aside from that, it functions well. Overall, it's a great ultra compact P&S model. It gets the job done for general use and has a very nice form and feel. The metallic casing shows its position in the cybershot line. Definitely recommended, especially at the current Amazon price ($270) at the time of this review. I purchased it for $385. and would do the same again if needbe.

Is NP-FD1 good for Sony DSCT77? I bought a Sony Digital camera recently. It came with NP-BD1 battery. I wonder if this NP-FD1 battery is compatible with DSCT77. It stated that it is compatible with DSCT70, wonder if there is any difference. You help is appreciated. Thanks.
New Batteries can make a big Difference.... After a year or two with the same battery on your cell-phone you notice it does not hold a charge as long as it did when you first purchased it. This battery was not only more potent, but gave me longer talk time than the one that came with it. I should have ordered more than 2.

This IS NOT the carrying case for the Sony Cybershot DSC-H50! Sony LCS-CSD General Carrying Case for Compatible Cybershot Digital Cameras Amazon recommends this product for the Sony Cybershot DSC-H50. It is a lie! This IS NOT the carrying case for the Sony Cybershot DSC-H50. I own this camera and followed the advise from Amazon and made the mistake of buying it. It is too small. There is no way to fit that camera in this case. In the other hand, I've also previously owned other Cybershot models and I can assure you this case is too big for the latest models. I guess it has to be an old model to fit perfectly in this carrying case!...believe me!
Don't buy this for the Sony Cybershot DSCH50! This is a perfectly good carrying case, but don't make the mistake--as I did--of buying it for the Sony Cybershot DSCH50. That camera is too big for this case.

Pleased-very nice camera I did a lot of research and settled on the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W170 based on its very positive 4-1/2 star reviews and the fact that it has a Zeiss lens. The lens was an important issue for me. My prime DSLR is a Pentax K-10D but I wanted a reasonably priced carry-every-day pocket camera. So far, this has exceeded my expectations. The controls almost go to infinity and yet you can choose EASY shooting mode for the quick photos. The LCD screen is clear and easily viewed. This is a very solid, well designed and easy to manipulate camera with exceptional fit and finish. You will need to purchase a Memory Stick Duo Adaptor for the Sony 170 but everything else is included. Even though this is a first blush review everything works perfect, pictures are very crisp and sharp. Time will tell as is true in anything but I would not hesitate to recommend this camera to a friend.
Sony Cybershot 170 camera I had a older model of this camera and was very happy with it. I wanted to update and I got this one again and I am very happy with how it works. Very easy to learn.
